Harry's Sponsored Swim - May 2015
George's
twin brother Harry recently took park in a sponsored swim to raise
money with SMA Support UK. Although Harry isn't directly affected
by SMA, it still has a a huge impact on his life. He swam 350
metres and has raised an amazing £3,069.62 so far! Well done
Harry, we're all really proud of you! www.justgiving.com/HelpingBuddy
George's Progress
George
is continuing to do extremely well and is surprising everyone with his
determination and courage. His core strength has improved due to
all his supported KAFO standing, hydrotherapy and Riding for the
Disabled sessions. He is still able to self propel in his manual chair
on smooth surfaces, but is also enjoying the speed and freedom of his
Snapdragon chair. George loves going to nursery where he has flourished both academically and socially. Well done George!
Pamper Evening - March 2015
Thank
you to everyone who came along to George's Pamper Evening in March. It
was a lovely event which raised just over £600 for The George Lockley
Fund. Thank you to Catherine Dyke-Price for all your help
organising and bringing along your Stella & Dot Jewellery. Thank
you also to all the beauticians who came along, especially Ruby Simz

Well done George!
He won his catergory in the Gap Kids Class of 2014! George was just one
of four winners chosen from the UK. His photos were in Gap Kids
store windows across the UK, America and Canada. Great awareness
for SMA! George loved the whole experience and was his usual
cheeky confident self during the photoshoot. There are some
photos on his Facebook page 'aboutgeorge.co.uk'

George’s progress - May 2014
George and Harry have recently turned 3 and they both enjoy
attending pre-nursery together. George
is doing extremely well and is benefitting greatly from his weekly hydrotherapy
sessions at Keech hospice. He is able to
move freely in the water and he can now swim small distances supported only by a
float. This is great exercise for
George. He has also started taking
Salbutamol syrup which has improved his arm strength slightly.
At his latest physiotherapy appointment at Great Ormond
Street, George was cast for a pair of KAFOs.
With these on his legs, George can now stand for short periods of time
without the support of his frame. Standing
like this is great for maintaining a good posture, and also has numerous other health
benefits for George. Fortunately George
loves wearing his KAFOs and is making great progress with them.
George has recently started Riding for the Disabled. His confidence is growing every week and he
has become very fond of a horse called Albert.
Horse riding is great exercise for George’s core muscles.
There are some photos of George standing in his KAFOs and
riding on Albert the horse on his Facebook page ‘aboutgeorge.co.uk’.
Panthera Bambino - November 2013
Thank you to the local charity ‘Wheels for Martin’s Friends’
who generously purchased George this fantastic lightweight manual wheelchair. George loves his new Panthera Bambino and is brilliant at manoeuvring it around at home and at pre-nursery. George had outgrown the Panthera Micro which
had previously been donated by Beatrice Howden and family. The Micro has now been passed on to another
little boy who also has SMA type 2. We
hope that it provides him the freedom and independence that it gave to George.
